Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation
Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation is a highly specialized treatment program for patients experiencing visual dysfunction following:
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)
- Stroke
- Brain surgery
- Neuro-degenerative conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease
Many patients experience lingering visual problems after neurological injury that standard eye exams do not address. These issues may include:
- Binocular vision dysfunction
- Oculomotor dysfunction (difficulty tracking or scanning)
- Convergence and accommodation disorders
- Visual-spatial disorientation
- Light sensitivity
- Motion sensitivity
- Cognitive-visual processing difficulties
Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation applies the concept of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to rewire and form new neural connections.
